Learn more at Position Summary Bodorlaser is seeking a driven and results-oriented Territory Sales Manager to lead business development and sales growth across Michigan. This is an individual contributor role responsible for expanding the market through both direct customer development and channel partnerships, including dealers, distributors, and other strategic sales partners. The successful candidate will independently manage the territory, develop new business, build a strong sales pipeline, and manage complex technical and capital-equipment sales opportunities from prospecting through closing. The ideal candidate has experience in B2B industrial sales, technical sales, capital equipment, machine tools, manufacturing technology, industrial automation, or a related field. Key Responsibilities Territory Development : Own and develop the assigned Michigan sales territory, driving revenue growth, market penetration, pipeline development, and new customer acquisition. Develop and execute territory sales plans based on local market opportunities. New Business Development : Identify and develop new customers through cold calling, cold visits, in-person prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, inbound leads, and other business development activities across metal fabrication, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and related industrial sectors. Full-Cycle Sales Management : Manage the sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through needs assessment, product presentation, proposal, negotiation, and closing. Maintain consistent follow-up and drive opportunities forward. Consultative Selling & Customer Relationships : Build strong relationships with business owners, plant leaders, engineers, purchasing teams, and other key stakeholders. Understand customer production processes and business needs to recommend appropriate laser cutting and manufacturing solutions. Customer Visits & Sales Activities : Conduct regular customer visits, facility tours, product presentations, equipment demonstrations, and solution-based sales discussions to identify needs and advance opportunities. Channel Development & Management : Identify, recruit, develop, and support qualified dealers, distributors, and other channel partners. Collaborate with partners on target accounts, customer visits, demonstrations, lead follow-up, and deal progression to expand market coverage. Pipeline, CRM & Forecasting : Maintain accurate CRM records and a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities. Provide timely sales forecasts, pipeline updates, competitive intelligence, and market feedback to management. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with Application Engineering, Technical Service, Marketing, Operations, Customer Support, and other internal teams to support customer needs and successful project execution. Industry Engagement : Represent Bodorlaser at trade shows, industry events, customer open houses, dealer events, and other business development activities as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, field sales, technical sales, industrial sales, or business development. Demonstrated ability to develop new business, build customer relationships, and manage sales opportunities within an assigned market. Strong prospecting, consultative selling, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills. Self-motivated and able to independently manage a remote, field-based sales territory. Ability to learn technical products, understand customer needs, and communicate practical solution value. Experience using CRM systems to manage customer activities, pipeline, and forecasts. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently throughout Michigan, with occasional travel outside the territory. Preferred Qualifications Experience selling laser cutting equipment, machine tools, CNC machinery, industrial automation, capital equipment, or other technical manufacturing solutions. Experience selling into metal fabrication, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, or related industrial sectors. Experience developing or managing dealers, distributors, or other channel partners. Demonstrated success in territory expansion, new-market development, or greenfield business development. Existing relationships within Michigan’s manufacturing or industrial business community. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and complex, consultative capital equipment sales. Location & Relocation Requirements This is a field-based position located in Michigan. Preferred base locations include: Detroit metropolitan area Lansing area Grand Rapids area Candidates who are not currently located in Michigan must be willing to relocate to Michigan to effectively support the assigned territory. The position requires frequent travel throughout Michigan for customer visits, prospecting activities, dealer and distributor development, industry events, and other business development activities. Field-based and remote work environment. Frequent travel throughout the assigned Michigan territory. Regular in-person customer and partner meetings are an essential part of the role. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Occasional travel outside Michigan may be required for company meetings, training, trade shows, customer events, or other business needs. Compensation The anticipated base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year. Actual base salary will be determined based on multiple factors, including geographic location, relevant industry experience, technical knowledge, demonstrated sales capabilities, skills, and overall qualifications. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for sales commissions and performance-based incentives. Based on achievement of sales goals, the anticipated total annual earnings opportunity is approximately $100,000 to $150,000, with actual earnings varying based on individual sales performance and applicable incentive plan terms.
