Job Title Assistant Coach, Women's Basketball Hiring Department Intercollegiate Athletics Location UT MAIN CAMPUS Weekly Scheduled Hours 40 Earliest Start Date Jul 07, 2026 Position Duration Expected to Continue Responsibilities The Assistant/Associate Head Coach is critically involved in all aspects of the program, is given specific autonomy, and shares responsibilities with the Head Coach in such key areas of the program as recruiting, practice planning, player training and development, coordination of team play, coaching tactics/strategies. Assist the Head Coach in recruiting, training, motivating and developing elite student-athletes in the sport of women's basketball. Proactively promotes the academic, personal and social development of student-athletes. Recruit and coach with the objective of attaining the highest possible outcomes in NCAA competition while maintaining integrity of the program. Employ high professional standards, ethical behaviors and adherence to UT Athletics, University, Conference, and NCAA rules. Provide high profile and positive public relations and communication with a wide variety of institutional and sport constituencies, including women's basketball professionals and coaches at all levels (club, high school), alumni, letter winners, media, students, student families, fans, Texas Athletics colleagues and others. Assist the Head Coach in the design of a competitive schedule to maximize team and individual player development and performance. Assist the Head Coach in leading and managing administration, logistics, support staff and business functions, including budgeting of the Women's Basketball program. Provide input on scheduling and team travel logistics. Assist with camp administration. Liaison and collaborate with athletics, camps partners and key stakeholders to deliver a holistic, well-supported student-athlete experience. Participate in public appearances and serve as an outstanding role model to student athletes and as a representative of Texas Athletics and the University. May represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions and alumni events. Drive an UT or rental vehicle on and off campus. Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree. Successful experience as an assistant or head coach at an elite level. Experience coaching NCAA championship‑caliber student‑athletes. Ability to collaborate with staff and provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes. Professional demeanor. Ability to project the image of the University of Texas and the Athletics Department with dignity and grace regardless of circumstances and environments. Ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enhance interaction with student‑athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success in recruiting elite student‑athletes. Experience as a student athlete in collegiate athletics. Driving Required This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
