Assistant Coach, Women's Tennis Hiring Department: Intercollegiate Athletics Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA Earliest Start Date: Jun 30, 2026 Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Purpose The Assistant Coach will support the comprehensive development and competitive success of a Division I athletics program by assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of training and competition strategies. This role is dedicated to fostering student‑athlete growth in alignment with the university's academic and athletic standards, working collaboratively with the head coach, assistant coaches and athletics staff to recruit and mentor elite student‑athletes. Responsibilities The Assistant Coach is critically involved in all aspects of the program, including practice planning, player training and development, recruiting, coordination of team play, coaching tactics and staff oversight. The Assistant Coach is responsible for mentoring assistant coach(s) and staff, input on scheduling and travel logistics, promotion of the team and university, fundraising, community service and alumni events, and professional development. The Assistant Coach shares responsibility with the Head Coach in establishing and enforcing team rules, communicating with sports medicine and academic staff, and representing the Head Coach at meetings, fundraising functions and alumni events. The Assistant Coach adheres to university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations while supporting the core values of intercollegiate athletics. Assist the Head Coach in leading and managing administration, logistics, support staff and business functions, including budgeting, of the Tennis program as needed. Other related functions as assigned. Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Act ethically, seek guidance when unsure, participate in assigned training programs, comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents, the University, NCAA, conference or other governing body. Report violations of state or federal laws, policies, rules or regulations. The Assistant Coach is a Non‑Confidential Employee for Title IX reporting duties and must report incidents of prohibited conduct to the Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by law. (Refer to the university's Title IX website for detailed responsibilities.) Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated success as an NCAA Division I student‑athlete, professional tennis player, or as an assistant or head coach at a highly competitive level. Experience directly related to the essential functions. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enhance interaction with student‑athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community. Professional demeanor with a demonstrated commitment to integrity, ethical conduct, and the University's core values. Preferred Qualifications Experience coaching NCAA championship‑caliber student‑athletes, success in recruiting elite student‑athletes, current and working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Driving Required This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three‑year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre‑employment, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return‑to‑duty, and follow‑up).
