Senior Rank Faculty Position without Tenure (WOT), Radiation Oncology, Radiation Biology Research

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full‑time basis for a twelve‑month academic appointment beginning July 2026. The base salary range for this position will be $11,667 – $20,834 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will be expected to expand and strengthen our foundational and translational research capacity in radiation oncology, with a focus on advancing mechanistic understanding of radiation response, particularly in the tumor microenvironment, hypoxia, redox biology, and emerging modalities such as FLASH radiotherapy. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, candidates who bring a strong, independent research program with expertise in areas such as ferroptosis, immune modulation, and molecular pathways influencing therapeutic response and normal tissue protection, along with a demonstrated track record of extramural funding and high‑impact scholarship. Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology involves preclinical and clinical studies to address the need to improve clinical outcomes in cancer therapy. To achieve this, novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to radiation therapy in cancer patient treatment are imperative, as are collaborations with medical and basic scientists at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center to maximize translational research opportunities. Successful candidates will be expected to secure funding for their research. Department Overview UW Medicine and its partner institutions provide an extensive and outstanding array of radiation oncology modalities for cancer patients. The Department of Radiation Oncology treats over 3,500 patients annually from a multi-state region covering over 25% of the U.S. geographic area. The University of Washington has the only Radiation Oncology department in North America that has clinical particle beam delivery systems for both proton and neutron therapy. Our clinical approach is collaborative with numerous multidisciplinary clinics, tumor boards and disease‑specific chart rounds. We are a part of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and have strong translational and clinical research collaborations. The Department has 36 physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, 33 physicists, and 2 research faculty.
