Associate or Full Professor, Division Hematology and Oncology, Program Head, Prostate Cancer Program

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), in the Human Biology Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine at the UW. The primary appointment will be in the Human Biology Division of Fred Hutch. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. University of Washington Associate and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community.

We are recruiting a faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor to lead/direct the prostate cancer program (PCP), one of nine programs that comprise the NCI-supported Cancer Consortium which includes the Fred Hutch, University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital. In addition to leading the PCP, the faculty member will be expected to maintain a vibrant independent research program focused on prostate cancer. This position will be a full-time, multi-year appointment.

The successful candidate will enter a dynamic and highly collaborative research environment as a member of the Prostate Cancer Program and will benefit from the infrastructure and resources available through the Pacific Northwest Prostate Cancer SPORE and the Institute for Prostate Cancer Research. They will have opportunities to collaborate with scientists across a wide array of disciplines. Collaborations may be enhanced via joint and/or affiliate appointments at the University of Washington, depending upon mutual interests. The selected individuals for the advertised position are expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in Genitourinary Oncology.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• MD, degree (or foreign equivalent)
• Board certification in hematology and/or medical oncology (or foreign equivalent)
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

We will consider scientists and physicians working in areas that include, but are not limited to: primary prevention, etiology, genetics/genomics, epigenetics, tumor microenvironment, metastasis, development of novel therapeutics, therapeutic resistance, biomarkers, DNA damage response, steroid receptors, immunotherapy/immunology, systems-biology, and/or computational-biology. Applicants should embrace a role in establishing a program vision that encompasses diverse faculty interests, maintains and enhances a highly collaborative research environment, leverages a robust infrastructure and orientation toward translational science, and develops the careers of junior faculty. A track record of leadership, relevant impactful publications, and funding commensurate with appointment level is required.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
