Mid-Level Natural Gas Plant Operator (Amine, Glycol, Compression & Condensate Stabilization)

Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\n- \n
- Operate, monitor, and optimize amine treating units to remove CO₂ and H₂S from inlet gas streams, ensuring sales gas meets required specifications. \n
- Operate and maintain TEG dehydration systems, managing glycol circulation, reboiler temperatures, and moisture content to control gas dew point. \n
- Operate and monitor condensate stabilization systems, adjusting tower pressures, reboiler temperatures, and product flow to achieve vapor pressure and RVP specifications. \n
- Operate and adjust natural gas compression equipment (reciprocating and/or screw compressors) to maintain throughput and suction/discharge pressure control. \n
- Perform routine inspections and basic troubleshooting on pumps, exchangers, compressors, valves, separators, and control systems. \n
- Record and interpret process readings (pressure, temperature, flow, levels, and gas quality) and make adjustments as needed for stable operations. \n
- Identify and correct process upsets such as amine foaming, glycol carryover, compressor vibration, or liquid flooding. \n
- Conduct safe start-up and shutdown procedures for process equipment following approved SOPs. \n
- Work with SCADA/DCS systems to monitor and control plant performance remotely. \n
- Support and coordinate with maintenance and instrumentation teams during equipment repairs, overhauls, or planned outages. \n
- Maintain accurate operating logs, shift reports, and maintenance documentation in compliance with company standards. \n
- Ensure compliance with all PHMSA, BSEE, OSHA, and EPA regulatory requirements and company safety policies. \n
- Safely handle and manage chemicals (amine, glycol, methanol, inhibitors, etc.) using proper PPE and MSDS guidelines. \n
- Participate actively in company Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS), safety meetings, and near-miss reporting. \n
- Assist in training new operators and support process improvement initiatives. \n
- Provide operational support to field personnel for pipeline pigging, valve operation, and gas/condensate sampling as needed. \n
QUALIFICATIONS
\nEducation & Experience:
\n- \n
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree in Process Technology or Industrial Operations preferred. \n
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in midstream natural gas processing operations, including amine treating, glycol dehydration, condensate stabilization, and compression. \n
- Experience with cryogenic systems or SCADA-controlled operations is a plus. \n
Skills & Competencies:
\n- \n
- Strong understanding of gas treating, dehydration, compression, and condensate stabilization processes. \n
- Proficient in basic troubleshooting of mechanical and process issues. \n
- Familiar with process safety management (PSM) and mechanical integrity principles. \n
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and equipment manuals. \n
- Skilled in SCADA/DCS systems and general computer applications (Microsoft Office, CMMS). \n
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. \n
- Proven commitment to safety and environmental compliance. \n
Must live within one hour of the following areas: Encinal, Cotulla or Carrizo Springs areas.
\n \nWork Environment & Physical Requirements
\nWork performed in outdoor industrial environments under various weather conditions and around high-pressure systems. Must be able to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in confined spaces or at heights. Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty required for continuous operations. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and adhere to company safety and drug/alcohol policies.
