Help Desk Support Engineer

Schedule: Hybrid, 4 Days Onsite Per Week Duration: 6-Month Contract with Strong Potential for Extension or Conversion Overview We are seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to join a growing IT team supporting a leading investment management organization. This role is ideal for an experienced IT support professional who combines strong desktop engineering expertise with exceptional customer service skills and a proven track record supporting users within financial services and investment management environments. The successful candidate will provide high-touch support to business users, manage end-user computing technologies, and partner closely with Desktop Engineering, Infrastructure, and Systems teams. This position requires experience supporting mission-critical business users in fast-paced financial environments where responsiveness, professionalism, and technical excellence are essential. Responsibilities Monitor and respond to support requests through the service desk platform. Provide technical support across desktop, laptop, virtual desktop (VDI), and related technology environments. Build, deploy, configure, and maintain employee workstations and virtual desktops. Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, application, and connectivity issues. Support users through phone, email, chat, and in-person interactions. Manage collaboration tools, conferencing technologies, printing solutions, mobile devices, and telephony systems. Facilitate employee onboarding, offboarding, transfers, account provisioning, and access management activities. Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles. Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams on operational improvements and project initiatives. Manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and service delivery. Participate in occasional after-hours and weekend support as needed. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in Desktop Support, Desktop Engineering, End User Computing, or IT Support roles. Experience supporting users within investment management, asset management, hedge funds, private equity, wealth management, or other financial services organizations. Strong experience supporting Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments. Experience supporting both physical desktops/laptops and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments. Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, user provisioning, and account administration. Experience building, imaging, deploying, and maintaining enterprise workstations. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to support demanding business users and executives. Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting portfolio managers, traders, investment analysts, and executive leadership teams. Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms. Exposure to systems administration and infrastructure technologies. Experience with large-scale laptop refreshes, device lifecycle management, and endpoint management initiatives.
