Job Title: Electrical Helper
Job Description
This role supports electrical installations on a variety of construction projects by performing basic wiring, device installation, and rough-in work under minimal supervision. You will work independently to run wire, install outlets and lighting, assist with conduit installation, and complete terminations while following electrical drawings and adhering to safety and code requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work independently to perform basic electrical installations on commercial and residential construction projects.
- Run wire including Romex, MC, and basic conduit runs to support power and lighting circuits.
- Install outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures according to plans and layout requirements.
- Set and secure metal and plastic boxes and make up devices in accordance with project specifications.
- Pull wire through conduit and properly terminate circuits at devices, panels, and equipment.
- Read and work from simple electrical blueprints to understand layouts and circuiting.
- Determine which circuits feed specific devices and areas and complete rough-in based on the layout.
- Perform device and circuit terminations, including making up outlets, switches, and breakers.
- Land wires correctly in panels, identifying and terminating neutrals, grounds, and hot conductors properly.
- Complete rough-in work such as drilling, running wire, stapling, and supporting runs to meet code and quality standards.
- Lay out device locations, including switches and receptacles, based on drawings and field conditions.
- Perform basic conduit work, including bending simple 90s and offsets and running EMT for basic layouts.
- Mount and secure conduit properly to structural elements using appropriate supports and fasteners.
- Apply basic understanding of electrical safety and code requirements on all tasks.
- Follow lockout/tagout awareness practices as directed on job sites.
- Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment, including hard hat, high-visibility gear, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Use power tools such as cordless impact guns and drills for mounting boxes, running self-tapping screws, hanging supports and strut, and installing panels and brackets.
- Use hand tools including lineman’s pliers, needle nose pliers, diagonal cutters, wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers, and utility knives to complete daily tasks.
- Measure and lay out work accurately using tape measures and levels to ensure neat, code-compliant installations.
- Use a non-contact voltage tester to verify basic electrical safety before working on circuits.
- Collaborate with field teams on construction sites, follow directions from supervisors, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- At least 2+ years of commercial or residential construction experience.
- Ability to work independently performing basic electrical installations.
- Hands-on experience running wire including Romex, MC, and basic conduit runs.
- Proficiency installing outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
- Experience setting metal and plastic electrical boxes and making up devices.
- Ability to pull wire through conduit and terminate circuits correctly.
- Capability to read and work from simple electrical blueprints.
- Understanding of how circuits are fed and ability to rough-in based on layouts.
- Experience making up outlets, switches, and breakers and landing wires in panels.
- Ability to correctly identify neutrals, grounds, and hot conductors.
- Experience with rough-in work including drilling, running, stapling, and supporting wire.
- Basic conduit skills including bending simple 90s and offsets and running EMT.
- Understanding of basic electrical safety and code principles, including basic NEC knowledge.
- Awareness of lockout/tagout safety practices.
- Consistent use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat, high-visibility clothing, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Ownership and competent use of hand and power tools required for electrical work.
- In-field construction experience working on active job sites.
- Experience working on both commercial and residential projects.
- Familiarity with construction environments, including new construction, renovations, and fit-outs.
- Comfort working with conduit, including bending and running conduit in various configurations.
- Ability to interpret basic construction and electrical blueprints for device and circuit layouts.
- Skill using cordless impact guns and drills for mounting boxes, supports, and panels.
- Proficiency with lineman’s pliers, needle nose pliers, diagonal cutters, wire strippers, and basic crimpers.
- Use of multi-bit or 11-in-1 screwdrivers for a variety of fasteners.
- Ability to use a utility or razor knife safely for cutting and stripping materials.
- Accurate measuring and layout skills using a 25-foot tape measure and torpedo level.
- Use of non-contact voltage testers (“tick testers”) for basic electrical safety checks.
- Experience using adjustable pliers such as channel locks for electrical and mechanical connections.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to neat, code-compliant workmanship.

Work Environment
Work takes place on active construction sites, both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions depending on the season. You will operate in environments typical of commercial, residential, and industrial projects, including new construction, renovations, and fit-outs. The role requires regular use of hand and power tools such as cordless drills and impact guns, pliers, wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers, utility knives, tape measures, levels, non-contact voltage testers, and adjustable pliers. You will wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times, including a hard hat, high-visibility clothing, safety glasses, and gloves, and you will work around other trades and construction activities while following established safety procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $35.00/hr.
