Passionate about making a difference in the lives of students who are deaf or hard of hearing? A rewarding part-time contract opportunity is available for a skilled professional to work on-site near Gilbert, AZ, supporting an inclusive educational environment.
This unique role focuses on providing specialized instructional and support services tailored to the needs of students with hearing challenges. Your expertise will be pivotal in helping students access their education fully and thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
- Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and educational technology for hearing impairments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and school teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and deliver effective accommodations
- Assess student needs and progress, maintaining clear, consistent documentation
- Engage with families to ensure alignment of goals and strategies between home and school
- Serve as a valuable resource on deafness and hearing impairments to school staff and the wider school community
