Duties

Help

Processes and submits appropriate exclusion-related cases to supervisors, using knowledge and experience to identify appropriate exclusion-related cases to supervisors, using knowledge and experience to identify appropriate exclusion authorities based on the facts of each case.

Executes assigned all aspects of the exclusions process in an accurate and timely manner, supporting efforts on legal appeals when necessary.

Performs tasks related to the management of exclusion case file documentation such as scanning, uploading into Digital Applications Services and Help (DASH) and other databases, and preparing files for storage, as needed.

With appropriate supervision, executes assignments utilizing experience and sound judgment supported by knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures governing exclusions operations.

Gathers information to provide in the management of exclusion case files and related to external correspondence.

Performs administrative support to accomplish functions required to meet the exclusions mission. Performs data quality reviews and coordinates corrections with assigned supervisor or mentor.

Effectively collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to build investigative case files, complete assignments designed to improve the efficiency of Exclusions Branch operations, and/or address issues which affect the administration of branch operations.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements for the GS-09:

For the GS-09 grade level applicants MUST have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following experience: (1) Gathering, researching, and analyzing various types of information from a variety of sources to develop correspondence from investigative information; (2) Collaborates with others to obtain facts and documents and communicate findings with internal and external stakeholders; AND (3) Apply facts to applicable authorities and using databases to prepare comprehensive files in a management system on investigative findings.

Successfully completed two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education, master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D. You must submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts to support your claim

Minimum Qualifications Requirements for the GS-11:

For the GS-11 grade level applicants MUST have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following experience: (1) Planning and conducting case analysis to gather the information needed to support investigations; (2) Collaborates with others to solicit and/or generate critical case file materials to support health care investigations; AND (3) Reviews and analyzes applicable legal authorities to process recommendations for agency implementation of administrative sanctions.

Or

Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of this position; or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements for the GS-12:

For GS-12, applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Independently researches and investigates facts and applicable legal authorities to evaluate and make recommendations about health care program exclusions or reinstatements; (2) Drafting administrative action letters and providing support in strategic planning, coordination and evaluation; AND (3) Provides advice, guidance, and recommendations on methods and practices for operation of health care exclusion program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week. Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.

Education

Foreign Education: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
