We are a locally owned pastry shop known for our French macarons, Lebanese sweets, pastries, specialty cakes, wedding desserts, and warm customer service. This position is responsible for producing high-quality pastries, cakes, and desserts efficiently and consistently. The ideal candidate pays close attention to detail, works well under pressure, stays organized, and understands that appearance is just as important as flavor. Responsibilities Prepare French pastries, desserts, cakes, and specialty items according to So Sweet’s recipes and standards Complete daily production assignments provided by the General Manager Prepare mousses, custards, pastry creams, caramel, meringues, ganache, and buttercreams Produce consistent, high-quality French macarons Demonstrate strong piping skills, including filling macarons and mousse cups, creating rosettes and borders, and writing on cakes and éclairs Prepare and finish tarts, choux pastry, éclairs, cream puffs, tortes, petits fours, and French butter cookies Decorate buttercream and fondant cakes, including custom celebration cakes and wedding cakes Cut, portion, assemble, and finish products neatly and accurately Understand proper proofing methods and timing for yeasted products Follow correct baking temperatures and times Follow recipes carefully and maintain consistency in flavor, appearance, and portion size Keep track of ingredients and communicate production or inventory needs Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace Follow all food safety, labeling, storage, and temperature-control procedures Reduce waste and use ingredients responsibly Support the pastry, kitchen, and front-of-house teams as needed Assist with seasonal products, catering orders, weddings, and special events What We Are Looking For Previous professional pastry, bakery, or culinary experience Knowledge of French pastry techniques Strong cake decorating and piping skills A good eye for detail, consistency, and presentation Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic The ability to complete several tasks while staying organized Good communication and problem-solving skills The ability to work independently and as part of a team A positive attitude and willingness to accept feedback The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen A genuine passion for pastry, hospitality, and excellent customer experiences What Success Looks Like at So Sweet A successful French Pastry Chef at So Sweet creates products that are beautiful, delicious, consistent, and completed on time.
