Position: Metal Fabrication

Location: Hudson, WI

Shift : 1st Shift, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Thursday

Pay: $20.00 to $25.00

Position Summary

We are seeking a Metal Fabrication Specialist – Sorter to sort, organize, and deliver metal parts to designated departments. This position may also cross-train in other areas of the metal shop and operate a variety of fabrication equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort, organize, and deliver metal parts to designated departments.
• Operate metal punch presses and press brakes under limited supervision.
• Set up machines for shearing and mitering operations using stops, guides, gauges, and measuring tools.
• Select and use materials efficiently to minimize scrap.
• Maintain required tolerances, including tolerances within 1/64 inch.
• Select and install the appropriate dies for punching operations using small hand tools.
• Select and install stops using a square, jig, or scribe.
• Read and interpret drawings and provide assistance to other operators when necessary.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Meet established quality and production standards.
• Inspect completed work using a metal measuring tape, square, calipers, feeler gauges, and other measuring tools.
• Adjust machine settings as needed to ensure work conforms to drawings and specifications.
• Learn to operate, and as needed operate, other machinery within the metal fabrication department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Basic arithmetic skills, including working with fractions.
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans, work prints, machine instruction manuals, and measurements from a tape measure.
• Proficiency with small hand and power tools.
• Ability to measure completed work pieces and verify conformance to specifications using feeler gauges, calipers, squares, and tape measures.
• Ability to understand and follow work instructions and workplace policies.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve routine problems.
• Ability to communicate professionally and productively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
