We're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!AMS Impact GroupDirector of OperationsReports To: Chief Financial OfficerLocation: Hybrid - Tempe, AZCompensation: Competitive, commensurate with experiencePosition SummaryAMS Impact Group (AIG) is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and solutions-oriented Director of Operations to oversee the operational, compliance, facilities, and program functions necessary to ensure safe, efficient, and well-coordinated school operations.The Director of Operations provides leadership and oversight for operational systems that support students, staff, families, and school leadership. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance requirements are met, facilities and vendor relationships are effectively managed, transportation and student programs operate smoothly, and internal processes are consistently followed across assigned operations.The Director of Operations serves as a key operational partner to school and network leadership, maintaining high standards of safety, organization, accountability, and operational excellence. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent follow-through, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.About AMS Impact GroupAMS Impact Group is the management organization supporting Academies of Math and Science (AMS), a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools serving communities across Arizona, Arkansas, and Nevada.AIG provides comprehensive academic, operational, financial, talent, enrollment, and strategic support to AMS schools with the goal of expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities and improving outcomes for scholars.Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance & Regulatory OversightMonitor, track, and maintain all operational compliance requirements, deadlines, records, and documentation.Coordinate and prepare for required health inspections, fire inspections, and other regulatory reviews.Manage compliance requirements related to permits, elevator inspections, security alarm systems, and other regulated building systems.Maintain and update organizational Safety Plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and internal policies.Ensure required operational documentation is accurate, current, and readily accessible.Identify potential compliance gaps and work with appropriate leadership and network teams to address them.Facilities & Vendor ManagementServe as a primary point of contact for vendor coordination, including facilities, maintenance, and contracted service providers.Oversee facilities support, ensuring timely completion of repairs, work orders, and building maintenance needs.Monitor building systems and ensure compliance with inspection schedules and operational requirements.Coordinate with vendors regarding service expectations, timelines, access, and resolution of outstanding issues.Partner with school and network leadership to identify and address facilities, safety, and building operational needs.Maintain appropriate records and documentation related to vendors, repairs, inspections, and building operations.Transportation & Student Program OperationsManage transportation coordination, including daily routes, field trips, special events, and other transportation needs.Oversee field trip processes, ensuring appropriate approvals, documentation, communication, and compliance.Manage fundraiser processes and ensure activities follow internal procedures and applicable requirements.Lead aftercare program setup and operations, including staffing, materials, and payment configuration in PowerSchool.Administer athletics and club operations, including scheduling, vendor coordination, documentation, and adherence to school policies.Partner with school leadership and staff to ensure student programs are well-organized, appropriately staffed, and operationally compliant.Personnel Management & TrainingLead onboarding and training for new operations personnel.Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and operational support to operations staff.Establish clear expectations and accountability for operational procedures and service standards.Maintain, update, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to promote consistency and operational excellence.Identify training needs and provide or coordinate additional training as necessary.Systems, Documentation & Process ImprovementMaintain accurate records, reports, and documentation across all operational areas.Ensure operational systems effectively support safety, compliance, transportation, facilities, and extracurricular programming.Utilize PowerSchool and other applicable systems to maintain accurate operational and student program information.Monitor data and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and strengthen operational controls.Develop and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, service quality, and operational effectiveness.Leadership & Cross-Functional CollaborationServe as a key operational partner to school and network leadership.Collaborate with Academic, Finance, Talent, Enrollment, ESS, Facilities, and other functional teams to ensure operational alignment and effective execution.Provide operational guidance and support to school leaders and staff.Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, staff, families, and other stakeholders.Identify operational risks, develop solutions, and ensure timely resolution of issues.Support organizational initiatives and special projects as assigned.Required QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, Education, or a related field preferred.Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in operations, facilities management, compliance, school administration, or a related field.Demonstrated experience managing multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience coordinating vendors, facilities services, or contracted service providers.Experience working in a school, education, nonprofit, or multi-site environment preferred.Experience with student information systems, particularly PowerSchool, strongly preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational, project-management, and time-management skills.Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and organizational policies.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong vendor-management and relationship-building skills.Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision.Proficiency with operational systems, documentation, Microsoft Office, and other business technology.Ability to develop, maintain, and implement SOPs and operational processes.Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-oriented in a fast-moving operational environment.Commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, efficient, and student-centered environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience as a Director of Operations, Operations Manager, School Operations Manager, or comparable operational leadership role.Experience working in a K–12 public, charter, or private school environment.Experience managing school facilities, transportation, aftercare, athletics, clubs, or other student-facing programs.Experience with PowerSchool or comparable student information systems.Experience managing health, fire, safety, facilities, or other regulatory inspections.Experience developing and implementing operational SOPs and process improvements.Experience leading or supervising operations personnel.Working ConditionsFull-time position with regular on-site responsibilities.Regular interaction with school leadership, staff, students, families, vendors, and network support teams.Work is performed in both office and campus environments and requires frequent movement throughout facilities.May require extended periods of standing, walking, computer work, and responding to operational needs.Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as needed.May require occasional evenings and weekends for school events, inspections, special programs, or operational emergencies.Position may require responding to time-sensitive operational or facilities issues outside of standard
