Step into a dynamic and high‑intensity environment at St. Francis Medical Center in Shakopee. Our 21‑bed Level 3 Trauma Center caters to patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics. As an Emergency Room RN, you'll join a strong, welcoming, and supportive team dedicated to providing immediate, life‑saving care. Your ability to assess, stabilize, and respond swiftly will have a significant impact each day. Our facility includes 21 beds and a 6‑bed Emergency Mental Health area, supported by a team of 120 staff members handling approximately 40,000 visits annually. We leverage cutting‑edge technology like Tele psychiatry and Tele‑Stroke Neurology and are currently under renovation to expand our ED capacity to 26 beds, along with 4 fast‑track rooms in Triage. We offer flexible orientation and foster a strong team culture that embraces and supports new staff. As a Level 3 Trauma center, we encounter a diverse range of cases, including trauma, mental health, substance abuse, and 18% pediatric patients. Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs. Treats patients who are suffering from trauma, injury or severed medical conditions that require urgent treatment. Principle Responsibilities Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed. Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills. Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care. Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care. Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable. Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion. Fulfills all organizational requirements. Supplemental roles: Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines. Preceptor (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee’s learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate's or Vocational degree Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree ED RN experience Licenses/Certifications Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if working in state of MN upon hire / WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if working in the state of WI upon hire Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association Current ALS certification from the American Red Cross Allina in-house ACLS training (within 60 days of hire) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – Multisource required within 1 Year Additional certifications may be needed at certain sites: Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) is required within 180 days of hire Other certifications may be required within 1 year Physical Demands Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently Tier 1: 1 year of RN ED experience or successful completion of ED RN orientation Tier 2: RN experience in ED, EMS, or ICU patient care experience Tier 3: Minimum 1 year RN Med/Surg/Tele experience or New Graduate with ED/EMT/EMS experience 0.75 FTE (60 hours per two-week pay period) 12-hour permanent evening shifts Every 3rd weekend rotation Pay Range Pay Range: $42.92 to $71.48 per hour The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
