Cultural Services and Events Coordinator

: Job Title: Cultural Services Coordinator Salary: $27.00 - $29.50 per hour Job Type: Part-time, 20 - 24 hours per week, non-exempt Location: Town Hall, 432 5 th Ave., Lyons, CO GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Cultural Services Coordinator supports Lyons' varied arts, cultural, and historic programs by organizing the administration, promotion, and implementation of projects, events, and activities. The goal of the position is to improve the quality of life in Lyons by developing a strong sense of community, strengthening the arts, and preserving our heritage. Under the general direction of the Director of Community Programs, the Cultural Services Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties to actively coordinate, promote, and implement events and to act as a resource for the local arts, culture, historic events and programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Perform administrative, technical, and analytical duties related to supporting efforts towards the development and scheduling of programs and events, specifically those that are arts and cultural related and including arts related events.
• Provide input and coordinate programming efforts for upcoming events, exhibits, and programs.
• Serve as the primary liaison for the museum, as well as all cultural events, public arts, outside event producers, and other groups.
• Serve as liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission and Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission.
• Helps to schedule and determine viability, logistics, and feasibility of new events and programs.
• Assist with obtaining sponsorships and/or donations for events and programs
• Work collaboratively with the town's recreation coordinator and Director of Community Programs
• Organize, advertise, and successfully carry out special events in coordination with the Recreation Coordinator and Community Relations Director.
• Coordinating and overseeing the annual budget for arts and cultural event programming
• Coordinates the review of public art applications, placement, and removal. Coordinate and oversee cultural arts programs and organize outreach for community involvement.
• Coordinate, promote, and distribute marketing content and materials (flyers, press releases, posters, etc.) for cultural, arts.
• Provide and promote excellent customer service through friendly, courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
• Apply for and oversee applicable grant applications and funding that is approved by the Trustees.
• Take responsibility for the completion of all special projects as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Two to three years of related experience preferred.
• Combination of education and experience to meet these qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge in the following areas: community relations, volunteer management, arts and/or historic preservation, and special event coordination.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively and professionally.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications, social media applications, and PowerPoint. Preferred experience with Adobe Suite and/or Canva
• Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license.
• The Town of Lyons is a Drug-Free Work Environment. This position may be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
• A Driving record will be investigated, and a drug test obtained pre-employment.
