Senior Supplier Development Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Supplier Development Engineer based in San Francisco, CA who will provide end-to-end manufacturing and process solutions for key design features in OURA’s new and sustaining products. This includes manufacturing process development and capability, selection and qualification of manufacturing equipment, new supplier bring up, automation development, and process technology R&D. This is a hybrid role, the candidate should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to come into the San Francisco office 2-3 days per week.What you will do: Define best-in-class processes to meet all OURA design and operational requirementsPartner with Quality Engineers, Material Engineers, and Product Designers to optimize product design and manufacturing processes for cost, cosmetics, and reliability Identify, research, develop, and qualify equipment manufacturers and suppliers in support of OURAs hardware development goalsUse data to drive process decisions and influence product and industrial design, including part tolerances and specificationsDrive suppliers globally to establish and optimize manufacturing processes for Oura’s mechanical components, ensuring best-in-class quality & resolving production issuesDevelop and document processes, parameters, consumables and secondary operation requirements to meet defined specificationsWork with Sourcing Managers to define and establish supply chain requirements utilizing selected equipment and manufacturing partnersProvide leadership and support at manufacturing sites during development and production rampWork with engineering and other cross-functional teams to drive issues to resolutionRequirementsWe would love to have you on our team if you have:5+ years of direct experience working in a mechanical manufacturing environment as a Supplier Development Engineer, Supply Base Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Design Engineer, Supplier Industrialization Engineer or equivalent roleExperience working with global suppliers to establish & qualify manufacturing processes from NPI to Mass ProductionExperience working with global suppliers to conduct Design For Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, identifying potential risks and challenges before build startAbility to analyze failure modes and identify process or design root causesWork with quality engineering to to apply quality controls, qualify manufacturing lines, conduct dimensional capability analysis, and establish cosmetic specifications Ability to apply design of experiments (DOE) approach to drive and validate corrective actionsKnowledge of advanced manufacturing, fixture design and fabrication, qualification proceduresExcellent critical thinking and problem solving skillsEffectively communicate challenges to leadership and cross-functional partners Ability to travel internationally, up to 25% of the timePositive attitude with a willingness to learn & challenge the status quoExperience with highly cosmetic parts or health wearable devices a plusBenefits At Oura, we care about you and your well-being. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions.
