The Human Resources Manager will effectively manage the day-to-day duties of the Human Resources function at our Chicago, IL, Robinson, IL & Bethlehem, PA manufacturing sites. As a member of the local management team, you will be a business partner helping to design, drive, and implement various HR and operational initiatives across all supported sites. This position is based in Chicago, IL. Key responsibilities Provide mentorship through planning, organizing, and implementing activities in support of plant operations. Serve as a functional resource for the employee base, ensuring their understanding and compliance with benefits, HR policies, and regulations. Partner with Global Business Services (GBS) to ensure all HR‑related activities are executed according to processes and procedures. Support BCOS and PDO related activities and drive the HR People pillar initiatives. Drive and support employee engagement action planning, execution, and retention initiatives for Chicago Manufacturing and Bethlehem sites. Maintain employee HRIS and filing systems. Manage the timecard and paid time‑off approval process. Administer leave‑of‑absence programs including FMLA. Perform recruitment and staffing activities for exempt and non‑exempt staff, including posting management, applicant evaluation, and pre‑employment screening. Support various audit processes. Execute special projects as needed (e.g., policy implementation, training, employee engagement, and safety committees). Invoice, code, and approve agency, HR, and office management expenses. Collaborate with the ES&H manager to lead safety programs. Ensure successful rollout and completion of Performance Management Processes, educating employees and managers on goal setting, development plans, and reviews. Educate employees on Health and Wellness policies. Partner directly with local leadership to resolve employee issues and improve engagement, retention, and performance. Identify and implement training solutions for all departments within the facility. Lead investigations and mentor managers on disciplinary recommendations. Use engagement survey results to build action plans and increase internal employee happiness. Support managers in providing continuous performance feedback. Lead employee relation efforts, liaising with the Site Operations Manager to implement initiatives that promote effective employee and management relations. Participate in the development and implementation of plant goals and objectives. About you BA/BS in Human Resources Management or related field, or equivalent HR experience. 5 to 7 years of HR experience in food manufacturing with multi‑site support. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems. Safety advocate with general knowledge of OSHA regulations. Proficiency in Federal and NC, IL State‑level employment labor laws. Experience with ADP Workforce Now and SuccessFactors is preferred. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to solve problems, make informed decisions, and influence others. Customer service oriented. Strong MS Office skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally. Strong leadership and influence skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and address difficult situations. Self‑motivated, action‑and‑results driven, capable of multitasking and managing multiple projects. Detail‑oriented, organized, with strong prioritization, decision‑making, and follow‑up skills. Ability to offer a high level of internal customer service. Effective communication and conflict‑management skills. HR (PHR/SHRM) certification is preferred. Travel Requirements Travel is required for this position. Must be able to travel between facilities regularly or as needed to support company initiatives and employee engagement activities. What you can expect from Barry Callebaut Salary range of $90,000 – $125,000, depending on experience and location, plus annual bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
