Position Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] Location Allen, TX Salaries $37.00 - $51.20 per hour (based on location, grade, experience) Overview As a Field Service Engineer at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. Responsibilities Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment. Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, using diagnostic tools and documentation to solve complex equipment issues. Follow and generate documented procedures and published task plans. Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service. Lead projects as necessary and train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers. Qualifications Associate degree or comparable military technical training plus 4+ years of experience in semiconductor industry or other equipment support industry. Precision mechanical equipment repair experience (required). Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics. Strong knowledge of hand tools, digital multimeters, and troubleshooting. Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain passport if travel required. Preferred: Familiarity with test equipment and oscilloscope. Bachelor’s degree. Project management skills and ability to lead key customer and internal product meetings. Physical Requirements This position often requires extensive walking, standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, working at height, lifting up to 35 lbs., distinguishing colors, working with electricity, noise tolerance, and use of hand and power tools. Working in a clean room requires appropriate PPE such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields. Additional Information Full‑time position.
