Staff Accountant

We are seeking a staff accountant to join our accounting and finance team. This position will play an integral role in the monthly and quarterly close process while also supporting the company's external financial reporting and SEC filing requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting, experience with month-end close, and exposure to SEC reporting within a publicly traded company or public accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare supporting schedules and analyses for monthly and quarterly financial results.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
• Support the preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, and related disclosures.
• Assist with quarterly earnings support and external reporting schedules.
• Perform tie-outs and ensure consistency between financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with internal accounting teams to gather information required for SEC reporting.
• Assist with external audit requests and provide supporting documentation to auditors.
• Support SOX compliance, internal controls, and related documentation.
• Research accounting and reporting matters as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline close and reporting processes.
• Assist with special accounting and financial reporting projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 24 years of accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience with month-end and quarter-end close.
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Exposure to SEC reporting, including 10-Q and 10-K filings.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Public accounting and/or publicly traded corporate accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within tight reporting deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
• Big 4 or other public accounting experience.
• Experience within a publicly traded company.
• Experience with SEC financial statement preparation, footnotes, and disclosure support.
• Familiarity with SOX controls and external audit requirements.
• Experience with Workiva or similar SEC reporting software is a plus.
