Job Title: Collections Specialist
Location: Addison, IL
Pay Range: $27/HR-$30/HR (Depending on Skills and Experience)

Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in a search for Collections Specialist for our client located in Addison, IL. Our client is a well-established provider of mailroom, postage, shipping, and digital document solutions, and they are looking for a Collections Specialist to join their team on a 2-3 month contract basis . The Collections Specialist will be primarily responsible for reaching out to existing customers and dealers regarding past-due balances, collecting outstanding payments, setting up payment plans, and working with the Accounts Receivable team to resolve billing discrepancies. This is a great opportunity to work in a well-established, team-oriented environment. The ideal Collections Specialist would be able to interview and then start shortly after.

 

Collections Specialist Responsibilities:

• Collect on past-due customer and dealer accounts
• Prioritize collection activity based on the dollar amount and age of the outstanding balance
• Make approximately 40+ collection calls per day to customers regarding past-due balances
• Review customer account history, notes, balances, and contact information prior to collection efforts
• Collect payments and establish workable payment plans
• Document collection activity and customer interactions within the company's ERP system
• Utilize Excel reports and a shared AR department mailbox to manage collection activity
• Send invoice copies to customers who are 60+ days past due
• Identify and communicate billing issues to the AR team, including misapplied payments, duplicate charges, sales tax issues, pricing errors, returns, and other discrepancies
• Work with the AR team to resolve customer disputes and ensure accurate account information
• Contact customers regarding Auto Pay issues and collect outstanding payments
• Prepare and send 10-day demand letters following multiple unsuccessful collection attempts or broken payment commitments
• Prepare accounts for submission to an outside collection agency when necessary
• Place meter locks on delinquent accounts and document the account accordingly

 

Collections Specialist Qualifications:

• 2+ years of recent B2B collections experience preferred
• Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to balance firmness and empathy
• Experience working with Excel and an ERP/accounting system
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be comfortable working onsite in Addison, IL
