Program Support Assistant (OA)

Summary

This position is located on Pacific West Area, National Clonal Germplasm Repository.

You will serve as a personal assistant to the Research Leader (RL) and other professional staff, coordinating a wide variety of administrative tasks essential to the program administration of the Management Unit. You will provide technical and procedural advice in support of research program administration by identifying and analyzing issues and taking or recommending action using established guidelines.

Duties

Help

• Provides a broad scope of program management and secretarial support for the Unit.
• Participates in program planning support work such as research project coordination, travel documentation, budget coordination/tracking, agreements, and purchasing/procurement of supplies and equipment, and human resources administration.
• Prepares task orders for Research Support Agreements (RSA) by meeting with scientists to assess work and time requirements for the year.
• Coordinates research documentation reporting requirements and provides oversight for the process.
• Identifies, restructures, and recommends ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying or improving administrative and clerical office procedures and processes.
• Coordinates the processing of manuscripts and reports for public information; edits material for correct structure, clarity and arrangement of format for scientific journals and other media.

Specialized Experience : Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is reviewing financial documents for accuracy; maintaining detailed records or files for an office environment; and participating in program planning support work including project coordination, travel, or procurement of supplies and equipment.

Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
