The CNC Machine Operator sets up, operates, and changes over CNC milling machines to produce high-quality metal components in a fast-paced fabrication environment. This role works primarily with Fidal, Blue Star, and Haas CNC mills, using precision measuring tools and interpreting blueprints to ensure parts meet exact specifications. The position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to work overtime when needed.

• Set up CNC milling machines, including Fidal, Blue Star, and Haas equipment, according to job specifications and production schedules.
• Operate CNC machines to produce parts that meet required dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Perform machine changeovers efficiently to support different production runs and minimize downtime.
• Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and respond to breakdowns or malfunctions to keep production on track.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements and verify part specifications.
• Use basic math skills to calculate dimensions, offsets, and adjustments during setup and operation.
• Measure and inspect parts using tape measures, calipers, and other precision tools to confirm accuracy and quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety guidelines and wearing required PPE at all times.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet production goals and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Work overtime and some weekend shifts as needed to meet production demands.

• Preferred 3+ years of CNC machine operating experience, ideally with milling machines.
• Proficiency in setting up, operating, and changing over CNC mills.
• Ability to work with CNC machine brands such as Fidal, Blue Star, and Haas.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Basic math skills to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and machine adjustments.
• Experience using measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.
• High attention to detail to ensure parts meet precise specifications and quality standards.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, including some Saturdays or Fridays as required.
• Capability to work safely in a loud, dirty, and temperature-variable metal fabrication environment.
• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent level of education.

• No formal post-secondary education required; on-the-job training is available for motivated individuals.
• Openness to learning new tasks and cross-training on additional equipment and processes.
• Comfort working in a full-service steel fabrication operation that includes cutting, welding, beveling, CNC machining, press forming, and plate rolling.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance to support long-term, full-time employment.
• Willingness to follow detailed safety protocols and wear all required PPE, including steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, long-sleeve shirts, and metatarsal protection (which can be provided).

The role is based in a full-service steel fabrication facility that provides oxy fuel, plasma, laser, and band saw cutting, as well as robot welding, beveling, CNC machining, press forming, and plate rolling. This is a heavy industrial metal fabrication environment that is loud and can be dirty, with temperatures that are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Employees work on 1st shift (typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime and some Saturdays) or 3rd shift (typically 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, with some Fridays and a shift differential). Overtime is expected when production demands require it. Proper personal protective equipment is mandatory, including steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, long-sleeve shirts, and metatarsal protection, with some items provided on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
