About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to take on a pivotal role in the development of a new class of power-generation turbines. This is a unique opportunity for a technical leader with a passion for building real hardware and a strong background in engineering, particularly in the fields of turbomachinery, propulsion, power systems, or related heavy-hardware domains. The CTO will be responsible for system-level technical architecture, early validation, and hands-on design, analysis, and testing. They will also play a key role in engineering hiring, setting standards, and developing workflows, as well as translating real-world requirements into robust technical solutions. Close collaboration with the Founder & CEO is essential, as is the ability to make early technical decisions under uncertainty and shape the culture of the engineering organization. Candidates for the CTO position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, with a Master’s degree preferred, and a proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams. A strong first-principles engineering mindset, comfort with both subsystem and system-level work, and the ability to operate within the constraints of manufacturing and real-world environments are crucial. The ideal candidate will have a high ownership mentality, be comfortable with making consequential decisions, and possess a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, and design in demanding environments. Professional experience in mechanical design, GD&T, and tolerance-driven design, supported by structural and/or fluid analysis, is also required.
