Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer: Automation PLC

Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer needed to lead automation technical initiatives for a new drug substance manufacturing facility in North Carolina. The role involves designing and maintaining PLC-based automation systems, SCADA platforms, and control solutions while mentoring automation engineers and supporting plant operations and capital projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead automation engineering team developing PLC and SCADA solutions for drug substance plant
- Design and implement automation systems integrating multiple platforms with Emerson DeltaV
- Collaborate with process experts to translate manufacturing requirements into automated digital solutions
- Provide technical guidance on control panels, HMI layouts, and system validation in GxP environment
- Support root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and 24/7 operational support for automation systems
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline, or equivalent experience (4+ years with bachelor's)
- Proficiency with PLC platforms including Allen Bradley and Siemens
- Experience designing and troubleshooting controls in GMP biopharmaceutical facilities
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, HMI design, and industrial automation integration
- Expertise with utility and standalone system automation in pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Strong project management and operational excellence capabilities
