Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer: Building Automation Systems (BAS)

Amgen seeks a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer to lead automation efforts for a new advanced drug substance manufacturing facility in North Carolina. The role involves providing technical oversight on building automation systems and PLC equipment, collaborating with stakeholders on design and implementation, and supporting system validation in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead automation engineering team on building automation and PLC-based equipment design, construction, and startup
- Develop engineering documentation and procedures; support validation in regulated manufacturing environments
- Manage commissioning, qualification, and factory acceptance testing activities for automation systems
- Own system administration, maintenance procedures, and engineering documentation post-deployment
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis for facility automation and utility systems
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years automation engineering experience with BAS and PLC systems
- Proficiency in building automation systems design and implementation
- Experience with GxP/GMP manufacturing environments and computerized systems validation
- Strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and centralized monitoring systems
