Job Purpose To perform loading/unloading of RJW trucks and outside carriers. Ensure all shipments are properly stored in the warehouse. Pick orders from warehouse inventory as directed by customer. Pay & Benefits Effective April 6, all new Material Handlers will participate in a four‑step wage progression program. Eligible employees will receive an automatic $0.50 hourly increase every 90 days over a one‑year period. Shift Schedule D shift – Sunday–Wednesday 4:00 PM–2:30 AM ($21/hour) E shift – Wednesday–Saturday 4:00 PM–2:30 AM ($21/hour) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Loading/unloading truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carrier equipment. Picking and moving from 1 lb to 50 lbs or more multiple times. Ensuring all documentation is properly completed. Coordinating with dispatch and sales to resolve any discrepancies. Properly storing all inbound loads in the correct warehouse location. Ensuring all shipments are properly marked before storing/picking. Maintaining the warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping. Spotting trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment into the warehouse. Coordinating paperwork with drivers after normal dispatch operations are finished for the day. General maintenance of the area surrounding the warehouse. Ensuring trailers are swept clean of any debris when empty. Ensuring all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly. Processing outbound freight and cross‑dock freight as necessary. Operating Stand‑up Reach Forklifts, Walkie rider, and some sit‑down forklift work. Following all safety procedures at all times. Building pallets and breaking down stock. Working in a fast‑paced warehouse. Other tasks as assigned by manager. Additional Responsibilities Operating a Forklift, Walkie Rider, and/or Stand‑up Reach Forklift. Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills. Maintaining orderly operation of the warehouse. Qualifications 6 months to 1 year forklift driving experience. Certified forklift certification is a plus. Language Skills Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine the root cause of a problem and determine corrective action. Computer Skills Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software. Physical Demands Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons. Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others. Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and is required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion. Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required. Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and concentrate on more than one task at a time. Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones. Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances. Work Environment The employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
