Medical Receptionist

Total Pain Treatment Centers of CT is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Front Desk Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of a busy medical practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in a healthcare setting, strong administrative skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate patient care. Key Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Enter, verify, and update patient demographics and insurance information. Educate patients regarding office policies, billing procedures, and insurance participation. Schedule appointments accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, including eClinicalWorks. Assist patients with coordinating laboratory testing, imaging studies, specialist referrals, and insurance authorizations. Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and other third-party payers. Operate and manage a multi-line phone system while providing excellent customer service. Review patient charts prior to appointments to ensure all required documentation and reports are available. Respond to patient messages and facilitate communication between patients and providers. Maintain accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and privacy standards. Scan documents, manage office supplies, and provide general administrative support. Utilize Microsoft Office applications for scheduling, correspondence, reporting, and documentation. Process daily payments and prepare collection reports. Travel between New Haven and Middletown offices to provide coverage as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills & Experience Previous experience in a medical office, physician practice, or healthcare environment preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems; experience with eClinicalWorks is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes. Experience verifying Medicare and commercial insurance benefits. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare privacy standards. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual language skills are a plus.
