Security Aides

Qualifications:

• Minimum of high school degree required.
• Ability to work well with students of varying ages.
• Ability to work well with professional teaching and administrative staff.
• Good communication skills.
• Previous experience working in a school setting, preferred.
• Knowledge of security measures, fire prevention and crowd control helpful.
• Ability to maintain order and remain calm in a crisis.
• A record of excellent job related attendance.
• Pass mandatory pre-employment physical, including any required drug screening.
• Pass mandatory criminal history screening in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
• Some basic computer skills required; proficient Google Office Office suite helpful.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

District Safety & Security Specialist and the School Principal

Job Goal:

To support administration in providing a safe learning environment

Performance Responsibilities:

• Report to the School Administration at the beginning of the school day and at any other such times as may be directed by them.
• Patrol the corridors at all times unless otherwise directed.
• Assist the professional staff in maintaining order in the cafeteria during lunch periods.
• Monitor the lavatories and locker rooms to ensure the privacy and safety of students.
• Assist in the general overall supervision of large group meetings, such as class meetings, assemblies, pep rallies, etc.
• Assist in the removal of trespassers and incorrigible students.
• Check visitors in the building at all times for proper credentials.
• Assist administrators in carrying out rules and regulations when requested.
• Alert administrators when suspicious about concealed or potentially lethal or dangerous objects, materials, substances or weapons and possibly apprehend them if necessary.
• Assist in general supervision during safety drills.
• Routinely patrol all school grounds.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administration to ensure the safety and welfare of students.
• Check students' hall passes intermittently.
• Check restrooms regularly.
• Check and monitor student locker rooms as assigned by principal.
• Help teachers and administrators in their execution of rules and regulations.
• In the event of authorized large group sessions, Security Aides are to remain very visible and in an assistance-supervisory role.

Salary & Benefits:

Penns Grove- Carneys Point Regional Teacher Negotiated Agreement

Annual Salary Range: $27,697-$30,927
