This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option with three days in a TTI Texas based office. This can be discussed further during the interview process.Your primary duty station will be TTI HQ Bryan, located at 1111 Rellis Pkwy, Bryan, TX 77807. You are required to report to this location for the first 30 days of employment. Following this initial period, a flexible work arrangement may be approved at the agency's discretion.The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Please be advised that Texas A&M University will NOT pay this fee. Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate.The Communications Manager, under direction, manages communications internally and externally. Reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations, and communicates with employees. Communicates with the media and other interested parties to maintain a positive image of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and the Communications Division. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesContent Development (45%)Writes, reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations and communicates with appropriate parties to maintain a positive image of the agency as required.Develops content for social media, the TTI website, MyTTI, Inside Lane, and collateral material.Develops content for research projects.On behalf of the Content Service line, serve as the project manager. Monitor project progress and ensure work order deadlines are met; adjust timelines as needed. Relay project requirements, updates, and changes to assigned teams and ensure alignment on scope and expectations. Assist with preparing progress reports and tracking follow-up items.In concert with the Director and Assistant Director, creates, develops and implements strategic communications (internal and external) for the agency.Media Liaison (30%)Tracks and manages media inquiries.Coordinates with researchers and agency leadership and the media as appropriate.Develops press release and materials for media pitchesServes as the agency spokesperson as needed.Management Role (20%)Supervise the Content Services staff.Manage the intake and assignment of projects within the Service Line.Ensure the service line meets billing expectations.Monitor project progress and ensure work order deadlines are met; adjust timelines as needed.Relay project requirements, updates, and changes to assigned teams and ensure alignment on scope and expectations.Assist with preparing progress reports and tracking follow-up items.Serves as a member of various committees as required.Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Five years of experience working in a communications environment, such as a communications department, print shop, marketing office, or newspaper.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong verbal and written communication skills for email, phone, and in-person interactions.Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.Ability to manage, track, and document complex workflows efficiently.Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Professional, positive demeanor with strong customer service skills and the ability to interface effectively with clients.Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Familiarity with database and job tracking systems.Professional social media experience.Other Requirements or FactorsWork beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.Travel may be required.Familiarity, experience, or ability to use specific equipment may be required.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience coordinating projects across multiple teams or departments.Writing and editing skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with database and job tracking systems.Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.Physical RequirementsAbility to perform common office functions.Ability to frequently communicate with other individuals within the workplace.Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
