Phlebotomist II - FloatThe Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as a primary point of contact for patients and represents the company in a professional, compassionate, and trustworthy manner. The PSR II is responsible for collecting high-quality blood and clinical specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, verifying patient information, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.The PSR II may work in a physician's office, Patient Service Center, or other assigned locations based on business needs. The position requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, customer service, communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform daily patient service activities accurately, efficiently, and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.Collect blood and other clinical or forensic specimens using established procedures and safety standards.Perform venipuncture and capillary collections safely and accurately.Perform phlebotomy procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.Prepare, process, label, and handle specimens according to established laboratory procedures.Verify patient demographic information before and after specimen collection.Obtain patient initials and signatures when required to confirm specimen labeling and patient identification.Ensure specimen labels are accurate and applied in the patient's presence when required.Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and collection information.Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately.Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional work environment.Provide patients with clear explanations of collection procedures and answer questions professionally.Create an atmosphere of trust, confidence, and respect during patient interactions.Demonstrate strong customer service and maintain a positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public.Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, dress code standards, and quality guidelines.Demonstrate leadership behaviors and contribute to process excellence.Work independently with minimal on-site supervision while following established procedures.Exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions within established guidelines.Manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume environment.Adapt to changing business and staffing requirements.Travel between Patient Service Centers, physician offices, and other assigned locations as needed.Work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, overtime, and short-notice location coverage when required.Complete required training at designated training locations based on trainer availability.Required QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.Phlebotomy certification preferred.Phlebotomy certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.Professional Experience1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.Experience must include: Pediatric phlebotomy, Geriatric phlebotomy, Capillary blood collection.2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.Customer service experience in a retail or service environment strongly preferred.Keyboarding and data-entry experience required or preferred based on position requirements.Technical and Clinical SkillsVenipuncturePediatric blood collectionGeriatric blood collectionCapillary collectionClinical specimen collectionForensic specimen collectionSpecimen processingSpecimen labeling and verificationPatient identification and demographic verificationPatient documentationData entry and computer/keyboard skillsInfection control and safety proceduresPatient confidentialityQuality control and accuracyCore CompetenciesThe successful candidate should demonstrate:Excellent phlebotomy skillsStrong attention to detailHigh level of accuracyAbility to produce error-free workStrong patient/customer service skillsClear and professional communicationAbility to work independentlyGood judgment and decision-makingAbility to prioritize multiple tasksAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentFlexibility and adaptabilityProfessionalism and reliabilityCommitment to patient privacy and confidentialityCommitment to company policies and proceduresAbility to embrace and manage changeStrong teamwork and interpersonal skillsOrganizational skillsLeadership behaviorsProcess excellence mindsetScheduling and Mobility RequirementsFlexible availability based on staffing needs.May be required to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts.Ability to travel between multiple work locations.Ability to provide short-notice coverage at Patient Service Centers and physician offices.Reliable transportation required.Valid driver's license and clean driving record required when applicable.Training locations may vary depending on trainer availability.Work EnvironmentThe PSR II may work in:Patient Service CentersPhysician or doctor's officesIn-office phlebotomy locationsOther locations based on business requirements
