The College's Chief Development Officer plans, organizes, coordinates and administers fundraising and alumni relations activities for Mesa Community College's Office of Development and Alumni
Engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties.
35% - Develops overall planning, organization, administration, and strategy for all fundraising activities, including capital campaigns, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and grants
development. Builds, maintains, and manages a portfolio of current and prospective donors.
35% - Sets the strategic direction and manages the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement through the establishment of portfolio management while hiring and mentoring team
members and managing performance metrics. Provides consultation, coordination, and support for fundraising activities for the college departments and centers. Establishes and manages volunteer and donor relationships, and all other supporters. Participates on college and community committees and task forces and serves as a member of the college's leadership team.
25% - Develops fundraising advisory groups and volunteer leadership. Secures ongoing, significant sources of private/unrestricted funds to support the college, students, and programs. Develops procedures related to fundraising for the operations of the college and its departments; develops fundraising alliances and actively drives fundraising goals, strategy, and outcomes. Plans and executes innovative ways of increasing funding from foundations, corporations, private donors, and government agencies using prospect research and data collection techniques.
5% - Develops and administers department/program budgets and manages special projects related to area of expertise; other duties as assigned, commensurate with grade level.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business administration, communications, or related field and six (6) years of experience in directly related areas such as developing, planning and implementing fundraising/development activities, program coordination and development and that includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
A. Master's degree with preference in areas such as Business Administration, Educational Leadership, Communications, or Non-Profit Management and Leadership.
B. Six years of experience in fundraising with demonstrated accomplishments, preferably in a higher education setting.
C. Experience in developing and executing multi-year fundraising plans in collaboration with executive leadership using various tactics and strategies (i.e. major gifts, annual fund, planned
giving , grants, etc.)
D. Experience developing contracts and gift agreements.
E. Experience with fundraising in a complex, multi-unit environment that is supported by a separate 501c3 Foundation, preferably in a higher education setting.
G. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
Standard work schedule varies during the year: August through mid-May: Monday - Friday, 8 hour days; mid-May through the end of July: Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days
Position periodically requires evening and weekend hours.
Required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor
May be required to travel or be assigned to another MCCD location
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
