ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to patients in a critical care setting, addressing a wide range of complex medical issues.

Unit Information

Location: City, State
Unit Type: ICU
Number of Beds: 5
Patient Ratios: 1:2-3, unstable ventilated patients 1:1
Available Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS

Patient Population

The ICU provides care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including:

Sepsis
Respiratory failure
Encephalopathy
DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis)
COPD exacerbation
RSV/Influenza/COVID-19
Occasional stable pediatric patients

Responsibilities

As an ICU Registered Nurse, you will:

Provide direct patient care, monitoring vital signs and responding to changes in patient conditions
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
Manage ventilator settings and perform drip titrations for medications such as heparin, vasopressors, Bumex, insulin, and sedation/analgesia
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans

Qualifications

Required Skills: Experience with ventilators and drip titrations
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Nurses are expected to: Read telemetry strips and provide assistance as needed

Work Schedule

Shifts: 1900-0700; offering 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Negotiable

Additional Information

Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available 24/7
Respiratory Therapists on-site in the ICU 24/7
Typical orientation period is 3-6 shifts, with additional time if needed
Great staffing ratios with a focus on teamwork
