Business Development Specialist, Bilingual Japanese, needed for an Insurance Agency in Schaumburg, IL If no Insurance experience, that is ok, this agency will train! But the candidate must be hungry to learn and grow in an insurance environment! This role requires the Business Development Specialist to have some Business to Business experience in sales/marketing. Will need to be comfortable at a professional level speaking English and Japanese. Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a Property and Casualty Insurance and Life and Health Insurance Agent License within 6 months of hire (first license must be obtained within 3 months of hire). Details Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm OR 9:00 am – 5:30 pm Duration: Direct Hire Worksite: Mostly in-office, unless traveling. Some work from home flexibility. Must be available for offsite meetings with clients. May require routine or periodic travel, may drive own vehicle or rental. Must pass Motor Vehicle Record report at hire and periodically, maintain minimum insurance coverage. Prepare reports, presentation materials and engage in quality assurance tasks. Arrange client meetings and maintain good relationships with Japanese corporate clientele. Research and provide recommendations for prospecting approaches to new clients, including appropriate solutions involving the company’s portfolio of products. Track overall sales and business development progress, review business goals, sales, marketing plans and update team on evolving market conditions. Assist in preparation and implementation of contracts and agreements with representatives of existing and prospective insurance clients and related business partners in the US. Support the Business Development Director in preparing reports on operational progress to Board members, executives and senior management in USA and JAPAN, and make recommendations regarding corporate strategy, improvement of business practices and refinement of sales policy. Coordinate design, ordering and distribution of promotional materials. Prepare presentation materials for prospecting. Assist Business Development Team with quality assurance tasks such as coordinating risk reviews between account servicing and sales teams, responding to carrier partners and tracking related activities. Proactively monitor emerging trends within the insurance industry and provide research results to the Business Development team in a timely manner. Make recommendations to leadership regarding solutions for prospects, based on market research and trends. Meet with prospective customers in person or virtually to obtain information about their current insurance package and future insurance needs. Execute the comprehensive sales process which includes successful prospecting, planning and gaining new business. Actively call/joint call on identified target segments, prospects, centers of influence, etc. to lead new business development and client acquisition efforts. Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales, cross‑sales and referral goals. Assist in new business upsell opportunities and developing retention strategies for existing clients by working collaboratively with Vice President, Account Executive teams as needed. Work with EB, P&C and Business Development departments to update sales status and achieve overall company and department targets. Conduct sales presentations utilizing company sales materials. Manage client relationships when needed; collaborate with AM/AE/VP on strategy. Maintain and manage prospect data and log activities. Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information. Perform special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by senior management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from four‑year college or university, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of two years of sales/marketing related experience and/or training. Highly proficient with MS Office Suite. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional level spoken and written Japanese language skills. Minimum of two years of experience marketing business services to Japanese clients. Ability to work independently and make accurate decisions and demonstrate good judgement. Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time/project management skills.
