Lab Processing Technician - Gross Room - Days

Position Summary The Lab Processing Technician provides services in the Surgical Pathology Gross Room at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The position duties include: retrieving and receiving specimens from surgical suites and various clinic locations; sectioning specimens and placing them in proper fixative; triaging specimens for ancillary testing; confirming patient identity and labeling requirements; accessioning specimens using Epic Beaker software ensuring proper billing codes; preparing specimens for transport via courier; tracking and transporting specimens within the facility; facilitating problem resolution for unacceptable specimens; performing microtomy on frozen section specimens; staining and coverslipping frozen section slides; answering laboratory phone and performing customer service duties; assisting with inventory and stocking supplies; performing daily and weekly cleaning and decontamination tasks; ensuring quality control measures are performed. Job Requirements High School diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree preferred. Location & Schedule James Cancer Hospital. Regular full‑time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8‑hour shifts between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. Coverage may rotate to other sites as needed.
