CNC Set Up Operator

Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Set Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality precision metal components. Your expertise in machine setup, tooling, blueprint interpretation, and quality inspection will help ensure efficient production while maintaining the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Set up and prepare CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper calibration, tooling, and machine readiness. Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances. Perform precision inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other quality measurement tools. Complete manual machining operations, including grinding, lathe work, or welding, as needed to support production. Monitor machine performance and perform routine inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting, including machines with Fanuc controls. Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, minimize waste, and maintain a safe work environment. Maintain quality standards throughout production by ensuring parts meet engineering specifications. Assist with tooling management and machine maintenance as required. Adhere to all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. Qualifications Proven experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of CNC programming fundamentals, including G-code and M-code. Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings. Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMM equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machining tools, hand tools, grinders, power tools, and tooling practices. Basic math skills for machining calculations, dimensions, and tolerances. Experience troubleshooting CNC machines and resolving setup or production issues. Knowledge of manufacturing safety procedures; experience with welding, forklift operation, or plastics support equipment is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
