Production Worker - Hi Lo DriverThis role involves operating production machinery to manufacture half shafts and related automotive components while following detailed work instructions, meeting production targets, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. You will work on a structured shift schedule, contribute to a clean and organized production area, and support continuous improvement within the manufacturing process.ResponsibilitiesOperate machinery on the production line in accordance with established work instructions and safety procedures.Feed materials into machines and monitor equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operation.Inspect parts and components against defined quality criteria to identify defects or nonconformities.Assemble products according to written work instructions and production standards.Assist in various tasks within the production area to support overall workflow and output.Monitor the production process to ensure adherence to production targets and quality requirements.Perform visual inspections of parts produced, following Work Instructions and Quality Alerts.Carry out basic quality and testing checks to confirm that products meet specifications.Perform other production-related activities as directed by leadership to support operational needs.Clean and organize the workplace regularly to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient environment.Pack finished products according to work instructions, ensuring correct labeling and handling.Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments to support efficient production and meet deadlines.Stand for extended periods during the shift while operating equipment or performing manual tasks.Participate in and comply with continuous training within the production department to maintain and improve skills.Perform other duties as assigned to support production and facility operations.Essential SkillsAbility to operate production machinery and follow detailed work instructions.Capability to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively and perform frequent squatting, bending, and ducking.Ability to stand on your feet for the full duration of the shift.Strong general labor and production skills, including loading materials and handling parts safely.Attention to detail for performing visual inspections and basic quality checks.Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production output.Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively.Effective communication skills to coordinate with coworkers and maintain efficient workflows.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience in automotive manufacturing or an automotive-related environment is preferred.Experience in machine operation, machine operating, and general production work.Worked in assembly work, including using hand tools and following standardized procedures.Experience with inspection tasks and basic quality control processes.Comfort working in a structured, target-driven production environment.Willingness to participate in ongoing training within the production department to enhance skills and performance.Why Work Here?You will join a modern, well-maintained facility that offers a clean and organized work environment and a structured shift schedule. The plant is described as spotless, reflecting a strong emphasis on cleanliness, organization, and safety. You will work on one of two primary shifts: A Crew (5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday) or B Crew (4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday). The environment involves standing for long periods, repetitive lifting up to 25 pounds, and regular bending and squatting while operating machines and handling parts. Production operators use industrial machinery, hand tools, and inspection equipment while following detailed work instructions and quality alerts. Steel-toe footwear is required starting on the first day to ensure safety on the production floor.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pontiac, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.35/hr.
