Development Manager

Job Description development manager HANA Center (HANA) is a Chicago-area non-profit organization working to meet the critical needs of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities and build power toward systemic change. HANA Center has offices in Chicago and Prospect Heights, Illinois. HANA engages a primarily low-income, limited-English proficient community, prioritizing community members who have been historically marginalized and have not had access to resources, including older adults, youth of color, women, undocumented families, survivors of gender-based violence, LGBTQ+ individuals, and intercountry adoptees. Currently, HANA engages 16,000 community members annually in the City of Chicago and northwest suburbs. Key programs include immigration services, crisis intervention and domestic violence assistance, case management, workforce development, health education and screenings, ESL tutoring, citizenship and technology classes, public benefits assistance, pro-bono legal services, housing services, senior services, youth leadership development, community organizing, and civic engagement. In partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing fundraising programs to secure support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations. Major Responsibilities Work with HANA's Executive Director, staff, and board to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors Manage current grant funders and conduct prospect research and outreach to identify and engage with potential grant funders Draft and submit grant proposals and reports for operational support and program funds Lead HANA's annual MODU Gala and other donor stewardship and cultivation events Work with Communications Manager to draft appeal letters and other fundraising- and marketing-related publications Oversee donor data management, ensuring data entry is accurate and comprehensive and that acknowledgement letters are sent within a 48-hour window Support HANA's communications efforts by providing data and copy for HANA's website, social media, website, press releases, and annual reports Attend and participate in community meetings and other activities as needed Participate and support other organizational priorities as needed Key Qualifications Commitment to immigrant rights and social, economic, and racial justice A belief in communities' ability to support each other, organize, and achieve desired goals together Preferred experience working with community-based organizations, especially those focused on issues related to Korean American, Asian American, immigrant communities and/or social, economic, and racial justice Minimum 3 years of fundraising, grant writing, and/or communications work experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, accuracy, and proven track record of meeting deadlines Proficiency in using technology and systems to maximize efficiency and impact Ability to build partnerships and gain consensus with co-workers, volunteer leaders, and peers Ability to take initiative, work independently, think creatively, and problem solve with a commitment to continued learning Proficiency in using design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset Bilingual in Korean and English languages, both verbal and written, is an asset A valid driver's license, car, and car insurance Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required Reports To: Executive Director Compensation: This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $65,000-$75,000.
