Responsibilities Crew Leadership: Direct crews in performing varied highway maintenance activities Maintenance Oversight: Guide work involving patching, drainage tasks, roadside cleanup, and emergency response Safety Management: Promote safe work practices and respond quickly to incidents or hazards Work Planning: Schedule tasks, allocate resources, and review road conditions to support effective planning Training Support: Teach proper use of tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures to crew members Work Schedule Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch This position may require modified work hours, including overtime during winter events Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable Qualifications One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project or Any equivalent combination of experience and training Additional Requirements Possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver’s License You must be able to perform essential job functions Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) 711 (hearing and speech disabilities or other individuals) EEO Statement The Commonwealth is an equal employment opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse workforce.
