Make an impact in the lives of 8th-grade students by providing essential support as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Experience working with middle school students, especially within special education settings
- Familiarity with students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Other Health Impairments (OHI) including ADHD
- Strong skills in teaching literacy, math, and social studies at the 8th-grade level
- Ability to manage and adapt instruction for a mix of resource and self-contained settings
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve a caseload of approximately 10 students, working in both resource and self-contained classrooms
- Design and implement engaging lessons in literacy, math, and social studies
- Support one student with math exclusively and collaborate on science curriculum with grade-level teams
- Assess student progress, adjust instruction, and communicate regularly with families and support staff
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and academic success in all learners
This contract position runs from August 17, 2026, through June 4, 2027, offering between 32.5 to 34 hours per week for the duration of the school year.
