About the Role We're seeking an associate attorney with 4+ years of civil defense litigation experience to join our Houston practice group. This is a hands on role within a sophisticated and fast paced defense practice handling significant litigation matters for insurers, transportation companies, commercial businesses, and other regional and national clients. The position supports a busy trial focused practice handling high exposure trucking and transportation matters, wrongful death claims, catastrophic personal injury litigation, premises liability disputes, construction related claims, and complex commercial litigation throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast region. The role offers substantial responsibility, direct client interaction, and meaningful mentorship within an active litigation environment. Responsibilities Handle a diverse caseload involving trucking and transportation, wrongful death, catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, construction, and general liability matters Represent insurers, transportation carriers, commercial businesses, and other regional and national clients in complex civil litigation Participate in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial preparation Assist with rapid response and investigation of catastrophic accidents and high exposure claims as needed Work directly with partners, clients, carriers, experts, and witnesses in an active litigation practice Take ownership of assignments and manage files with sound judgment, responsiveness, and attention to detail Contribute to a busy trial focused team with meaningful responsibility from the outset Qualifications 4+ years of civil defense litigation experience Experience in trucking and transportation, insurance defense, wrongful death, personal injury, premises liability, construction, or related litigation preferred Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills Ability to manage active litigation files in a fast paced environment Comfortable working directly with clients, carriers, and senior attorneys Preferred Experience Deposition and motion practice experience Experience handling catastrophic injury or transportation related claims Trial preparation, mediation, and hearing experience Background in high exposure civil defense litigation Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based on experience, background, and overall fit Quarterly and Annual bonus opportunities and full benefits package Meaningful responsibility and direct mentorship Opportunity to work on sophisticated, high stakes litigation within a well established and growing firm Equal Opportunity Statement Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr and Smith is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace. #J-18808-Ljbffr Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith
