This role can be in skilled care department or assisted living department. The minimum education, experience and qualifications for this position are: current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health; able to speak, read, write and comprehend English skills needed to use medical terminology on the job; ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills; interest in working with older adults; and general knowledge of the needs of geriatric residentsKey ResponsibilitiesPersonal hygiene, grooming advice and assistance.Dressing assistance.Stand-by shower or full bathing assistance.Handling and care of clothing and other personal property, including dentures, glasses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices.Escorting and transporting residents, transferring as needed.Provides assistance to low vision residents by reading mail, menus, schedules, etc.Reminds residents of activities and special events.Observes and reports perceived changes in resident's physical condition and cognitive/emotional status according to policies and procedures.Monitors for and reports unusual occurrences, accidents or safety concerns and reports to Director of Assisted Living.Reminds residents to take pre-dispensed, self-administered medications, observes residents and documents whether or not the resident takes the medications according to established policies and procedures.Qualifications & SkillsCPR certified, Accredited by American Heart Association.Reading, writing, and comprehension skilled needed to use medical terminology on the job.Ability to do simple arithmetic.Good communication skills.Long-term care experience preferred but not required.General knowledge of the needs of general patients.About Presbyterian LivingPresbyterian Living is an independent, not-for-profit senior living organization offering a full continuum of care—including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.
