Security Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly manages Security Department staff and contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the work and activities of employees and contractors in accordance with MART's written policies and procedures. Responsibilities include training, coaching, mentoring, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Position Summary:

This position provides direct oversight to a team of security personnel. The position's primary responsibility is the safety and security of the MART property portfolio and the patrons of the facilities. The position will liaison with local police departments in towns where MART has a physical building presence to bolster the security at sites and compliment the contracted security personnel's efforts to provide safe and secure experience for employees, contractors, commuters, and the general public.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:

• Manages and trains security personnel
• Oversees personnel: hiring and onboards new security personnel.
• Sets the schedules of security personnel according to the organization's business need
• Develop, implement, and update security policies, SOPs, emergency response plans, drills, and exercises
• Monitors, maintains, updates, and ensures operational function of the access control & monitoring system and video surveillance system
• Conducts regular security inspections
• Investigates security threats and breaches
• Writes comprehensive security reports
• Presents security improvement plans to the Senior Management Team
• Builds and manages the departmental goals, establishing objectives that are achieved and revised each year
• Maintains utmost confidentiality and discretion, maintaining documents, plans, and other correspondence that is safety sensitive and confidential material.
• Ensures that the contracted security team follows security and privacy laws and standards.
• Must possess a firearm and be qualified and authorized (License to Carry Class A) to carry a firearm while performing official job duties in accordance with MART policies, Massachusetts law, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

When duties and responsibilities change, the employee may be asked to perform other duties as required as business needs dictate. Employees are required to identify any changes in their job duties since the descriptions were last reviewed. Additionally, MART may ask that employees conduct a review of their position as part of the performance-evaluation process.

Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or GED
• 10+ years' experience in security, law enforcement, security management, military, emergency management, or related field.
• 5+ years or more years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, security management, military, emergency management, or related field.
• Experience working in Public Transit facilities or transportation hubs is highly desirable.
• Experience in security operations in a commercial, institutional, or government facility preferred.
• Experience with typical security protocols in an office setting required.
• Knowledge of typical security, public safety, and de-escalation techniques.
• Able to read, write, and understand English, bi-lingual is preferred.
• Valid unexpired Driver's License required for working in multiple locations.
• Experience of using Access Control & Monitoring software required
• Maintain compliance with all MART drug and alcohol testing requirements, including pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing, as a condition of carrying a firearm while performing official job duties, in accordance with MART policy and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
