Medical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team, committed to delivering high-quality, whole-person care across various medical services. This role involves specimen processing, test performance, and result reporting, ensuring compliance with departmental and regulatory agency standards.

Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technologist will maintain a high level of accuracy and precision while performing various laboratory functions. The position includes responsibilities across multiple laboratory sections, including processing, phlebotomy, and microbiology setups, depending upon laboratory needs.

Essential Functions

• Prepare sterile media in plates, jars, or test tubes for bacterial cultures, incubating them at prescribed temperatures.
• Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains by following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of policies and procedures related to the duties of a Medical Laboratory Technologist, consistently operating within these frameworks.
• Perform only those technical duties for which training and documentation of approval have been granted.
• Maintain detailed records of tests performed and report laboratory test results to appropriate personnel.
• Recognize quality control shifts and trends, taking appropriate actions as necessary.
• Respond to inquiries concerning age/sex-specific expected, therapeutic, abnormal, and critical values relevant to departments worked.
• Adhere to critical value policies and notify appropriate personnel in a timely manner with documentation, including read-back of results.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology: Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent: Preferred
• Two years of Medical Technologist experience in a hospital setting: Preferred
• Current certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Medical Technologist American Medical Technologists (MT-AMT) certification or equivalent: Required in Oregon

Work Schedule

This position involves an evening shift, with specific hours that may vary. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the laboratory.
