Job Description
Exciting ICU and MedSurg Nursing Opportunity!


- Shift : 12-hour Night shifts (6 PM to 6:30 AM)
- Schedule : Every other weekend requirement, with potential for block scheduling
- Unit Type : Combined ICU and MedSurg unit
- 4 ICU beds and 19 MedSurg beds
- Ability to convert more beds to ICU/PCU as needed
- Patient Ratios :
- MedSurg: 1:5 (1:4 for pediatric patients aged 4-17)
- PCU: 1:3-4
- ICU: 1:1 or 1:2 (no flexing on ICU ratios)
- Required Certifications :
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- PALS or ENPC
- Experience Requirements :
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
- Proficiency in managing ventilators and critical drips (sedation, vasoactive medications, paralytics, etc.)
- Common Patient Diagnoses :
- Ventilated patients and respiratory distress
- Medical, orthopedic, and abdominal surgery cases
- Stable strokes with TPA and STEMIs not needing interventions
- Pediatric cases: laparoscopic appendectomies and general scopes
- Support Staff :
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor on every shift
- CNA support available (usually 2 per shift)
- Virtual hospitalist and 24/7 in-house ED physician
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 in the ICU
- Telehealth Monitoring :
- Nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry
- Virtual monitor tech available for assistance
- Orientation :
- 2-6 shifts depending on comfort level
- Cancellation Policy :
- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts for 13-week assignment
- Job Setting : Acute care
