Senior Application Developer / Technical Lead
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Developer / Technical Lead to provide technical leadership and hands-on development across a portfolio of enterprise customer service applications. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a senior full-stack developer who can manage multiple applications, lead technical initiatives, and collaborate effectively with both onshore and offshore development resources.

The role will have an approximate 70% technical leadership / 30% hands-on development focus. The selected candidate will typically oversee 2-3 applications simultaneously, helping drive new enhancements, application modernization, production support, and ongoing technology upgrades.

The environment is centered around Java, Angular, RESTful APIs/web services, Google Cloud Platform, and modern full-stack development. Additional platforms include Genesys and Appian. The organization is also investing in AI initiatives utilizing technologies such as Google Gemini, making AI development knowledge a valuable differentiator.

The position follows a hybrid schedule with onsite work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multiple enterprise applications, typically managing priorities across 2-3 applications simultaneously.
• Lead solution design, technical decision-making, development planning, code reviews, and implementation efforts.
• Work within a blended team of approximately 10-15 onshore and offshore resources, providing technical direction and development guidance.
• Design, develop, enhance, and support full-stack applications using Java, Angular, RESTful APIs/web services, and modern development technologies.
• Balance application enhancements and new development with ongoing maintenance and production support.
• Develop and maintain integrations and RESTful APIs connecting enterprise applications and services.
• Support customer service technology solutions, including applications integrated with the Genesys customer experience platform.
• Contribute to workflow-based solutions and applications utilizing Appian.
• Leverage Google Cloud Platform for application and data-related capabilities, including data extraction, processing, and application data storage.
• Participate in AI-focused development initiatives utilizing Google Gemini and cloud-based AI capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to incorporate AI into application development, modernization, and engineering workflows.
• Partner with Application Development Managers, architects, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Coordinate development activities across onshore and offshore resources while ensuring quality and alignment with technical standards.
• Support application releases and deployments within an established release schedule.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Follow established Agile methodology and Software Development Life Cycle processes.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure applications adhere to development, security, architecture, and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional full-stack application development experience.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Java.
• Strong experience with Angular and modern front-end development.
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
• Demonstrated full-stack development experience across front-end, backend, integrations, and data layers.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform or comparable enterprise cloud technologies.
• Experience leading technical development efforts and providing guidance to other developers.
• Ability to simultaneously manage development activities across multiple applications.
• Experience working within Agile development methodologies and established SDLC processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and production application support experience.
• Experience collaborating with distributed onshore and offshore development teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across technical, business, and leadership stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Google Gemini or other generative AI and AI development technologies.
• Understanding of AI-assisted application development and emerging AI capabilities within cloud environments.
• Experience with Genesys or other enterprise customer service/contact center platforms.
• Experience developing or supporting workflows within Appian.
• Experience with React in addition to Angular.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications or implementing major technology upgrades.
• Experience supporting customer-facing or customer service technology platforms.
• Experience within healthcare, insurance, financial services, or another regulated enterprise environment.
