Trust & Estate Associate Attorney

A well-established law firm is seeking an attorney to join its Trust and Estate Administration practice. The ideal candidate will have an interest or experience in federal estate and gift tax, generation-skipping transfer tax, and fiduciary income tax matters. This role offers significant client interaction and the opportunity to work directly with individuals, families, fiduciaries, and their outside advisors on estate and trust administration matters.

Experience with estate planning, real estate, corporate, or nonprofit matters is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare court pleadings, proposed orders, notices, and other legal documents related to estate and trust administration.
• Communicate directly with clients and other advisors regarding administration matters.
• Meet with clients to discuss estate and trust-related issues and provide practical legal guidance.
• Prepare and electronically file pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
• Review real estate, financial, and tax records related to a decedent’s assets.
• Prepare estate and trust accountings, funding calculations, and related documentation.
• Advise clients on federal estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and fiduciary income tax matters.
• Prepare and assist with the filing of federal gift and estate tax returns.
• Coordinate with clients, financial professionals, accountants, and other advisors throughout the administration process.
• Manage multiple matters while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting applicable deadlines.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the applicable state bar, or eligibility for admission.
• Interest or experience in trusts, estates, estate administration, or related tax matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other professionals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
