Senior Project Manager (Spanish bilingual)

Carex is partnering with a Financial Servicesindustry partner to hire a Senior Project Manager who will oversee a portfolio of high-impact, enterprise-wide programs and strategic initiatives focused in Costa Rica. This role drives program strategy, execution, governance, and measurable business outcomes while fostering strong partnerships with senior leaders and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading complex transformation efforts, managing risks and budgets, and influencing stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization. Fluency in Spanish and English is required to support effective communication and collaboration with Spanish-speaking stakeholders.
Duration: 6 months contract, then convert to permanent
Pay rate: $65-75/hr + Carex benefits during contract period
Location: Madison, WI (hybrid)

What You'll Do

• Partner with enterprise planning, governance, and business leaders to define program objectives and ensure alignment with organizational strategies and priorities.

• Develop program charters, business cases, roadmaps, delivery plans, and success measures to guide execution and demonstrate business value.

• Establish and maintain program governance structures, including roles, responsibilities, decision-making protocols, and consistent reporting standards.

• Lead the execution of complex, cross-functional programs, managing scope, timelines, budgets, dependencies, resources, risks, and issues throughout the program lifecycle.

• Drive the adoption and standardization of appropriate delivery methodologies, including Agile and other project management frameworks, to improve execution and accelerate value delivery.

• Identify opportunities to prioritize minimum viable functionality and deliver measurable business value as early as possible.

• Monitor program performance against established objectives, success metrics, financial targets, and expected benefits.

• Develop and maintain program budgets in partnership with Finance, conducting cost-benefit analyses and ensuring financial accountability.

• Proactively identify risks, resolve issues, manage scope changes, and elevate critical decisions to the appropriate stakeholders.

• Communicate program status, performance metrics, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership, business partners, and cross-functional teams.

• Build and maintain productive relationships with executive sponsors, business leaders, shared services partners, and external stakeholders.

• Lead and mentor project managers and cross-functional teams, providing direction, coaching, feedback, and accountability throughout program delivery.

• Facilitate collaboration, resolve conflicts, and build consensus among stakeholders with competing priorities.

• Partner with program delivery leadership to align staffing and resource allocation with program needs.

• Ensure program activities adhere to organizational standards, governance requirements, and applicable regulatory and privacy expectations.

• Oversee program closure, document lessons learned, and facilitate the transition of completed deliverables into ongoing operations.

• Leverage data, business performance metrics, and stakeholder insights to challenge assumptions, identify improvement opportunities, and strengthen decision-making.

• Communicate effectively in both Spanish and English to support stakeholder alignment, program execution, and organizational collaboration.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

• 10+ years of related experience, including 5+ years of recent experience leading large-scale projects, teams, or transformation initiatives involving process improvement, product implementations, or systems development and integration.

• Fluency in Spanish and English , with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and professionally in both languages.

• Proven ability to lead programs and projects throughout their full lifecycle, from initial strategy and planning through execution, measurement, and closure.

• Demonstrated success managing complex programs, cross-functional teams, competing priorities, and enterprise-wide initiatives.

• Strong understanding of program governance, portfolio management, financial oversight, risk management, and change control.

• Experience developing program roadmaps, budgets, business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and measurable success criteria.

• Ability to quickly understand complex business and technology concepts and translate strategic priorities into actionable plans.

• Proven ability to navigate highly matrixed organizations and build trust with senior executives, sponsors, and business stakeholders.

• Strong negotiation, influencing, conflict-resolution, and consensus-building skills.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching, mentoring, guiding teams, and driving accountability.

• Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate customer needs, business performance metrics, and organizational priorities into effective delivery plans.

• Results-oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and operate independently with minimal direction.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience with Agile methodologies, program delivery frameworks, and enterprise transformation initiatives preferred.
