Registered Nurse (RN)This position is for a Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Unit (MS/PCU) Registered Nurse with a focus on various patient types including respiratory failure, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, bariatric post-operative care, diabetes management, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, and acute skilled nursing facility patients.Experience and SkillsExperience: 1 year in PCUPatient Ratios: RN: 1:4 PCUMS/MTCNA: 1:10Required Skills: Telemetry experienceCIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment)BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure)Central line maintenance/managementTube/drain managementCardiac rhythm interpretationIV administration skillsPreferred Skills: Chest tube managementTracheostomy careHome ventilator experienceCertificationsBLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)Unit InformationSupport Staff: Charge Nurse - free-floatingSWAT Nurse for PICC lines and proceduresRespiratory Therapy available 24/7Hospitalist services 24/7Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy available during day shift onlyPhlebotomy services on-siteCharting System: EPIC (preferred), Alaris, PyxisOrientation: Hospital Orientation with modules covering EPIC, safe patient handling, and glucose training12-hour unit-specific orientation with a preceptorTraveler Telemetry Competency is required prior to starting the position.SchedulingShift Times: Days: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PMNights: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AMWeekend Rotation: Every other weekendRequests for Time Off (RTO): Must be submitted 7 days in advance; further requests can be directed to the Nurse Manager.Holiday Expectations: Varies; travelers typically work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday minimum.Work EnvironmentCulture: The environment is welcoming and traveler-friendly, with a high rate of traveler extensions.Scrub Color: Any professional color is acceptable.Parking: Free designated parking available.Bedside handoff is mandatory; expectations include updating the whiteboard at each shift change.LocationThe position is available in City, State.
