(exp 5/31/26) Purpose: Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or Shop Foreman. Responsibilities Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products. Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere and competitive equipment and technology. Equipment types include but are not limited to: Skid loaders, Mini Excavators, 4-wheel front loaders, Compact Utility Tractors, Utility Vehicles, and commercial and residential mowing equipment. Have extensive diagnostic and repair capabilities for 2-stroke and 4-stroke small engines. Mentor Service Technician Trainees and other Service Technicians. Provide delivery support as needed, e.g., equipment pick-up and delivery. Conduct or support customer clinics. Perform diagnostics and repairs in the field as required. Be accountable for billable time and assigned work orders. Document diagnostics and repairs thoroughly on work orders and submit information on time. Participate in John Deere University and dealer training programs required for skill development. Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required for job responsibilities. Keep a clean work area and work in a neat and orderly fashion. Follow all safety rules and regulations during work assignments. Lift at least 50 lbs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge 3+ years of relevant professional experience repairing small gas and diesel engines. Experience performing service repairs; demonstrated ability to consistently meet performance metrics preferred. Experience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment. Follow technical manuals and specific computer programs or platform procedures on machines of the technician’s specialty. Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, turf, or heavy equipment. Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes. Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred. Experience working cooperatively in a team environment. Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing. Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associate’s degree preferred. Current or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate. Valid driver’s license required; must be at least 21 years old with relevant driving experience.
