Must be available to work 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as needed if manager absent. Reports To: Executive Director of Nutrition Services Work Schedule/FLSA Status: Hourly, Full-time position with benefits, paid bi‑weekly; annual uniform allowance and complimentary shift meal. Position Purpose Assist with preparation and service of quality meals, cleaning and sanitation of equipment, rotating food stock and supplies, assisting with dish machine and manual dishwashing, and providing superior customer service. Serve as Backup Manager leading staff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High School diploma or equivalent required. Excellent attendance and work record. Previous food service experience preferred, including cashier experience. Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations using units of American money, weight measurements, volume, and distance. Knowledge of safe food handling, HACCP procedures, and food safety practices. Customer relations and service recovery skills. Interpersonal and cultural sensitivity interacting with diverse populations. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of OPS mission and goals. Willingness to travel to other schools when requested. Essential Performance Responsibilities Assist with preparation, service, and storage of food. Complete required reports. Interact with a diverse student population; serve as positive role model. Recognize reimbursable meals and follow cafeteria menu protocols. Cross‑cover kitchen areas, promote customer service. Participate in financial management: portion control, pricing, safe storage. Maintain food safety, cleaning, and sanitation procedures. Practice good personal hygiene. Demonstrate proficiency in English, basic math skills, and food service equipment operation. Follow oral and written instructions; respond to verbal information. Complete required certifications: Douglas County Food Handler’s Certification, Kitchen Assistant Training, Manager Training Sessions. Assume management responsibilities in absence of manager. Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor and central office administrators. Equipment Use of computer and automated record‑keeping software; use of commercial kitchen equipment (ovens, steamers, hot holding cabinets, blenders, food processors, mixers, slicers, can openers, peelers, knives, scales, thermometers).
